The Arts curriculum aims to inspire, educate and fully prepare our students in becoming exceptional artists, designers and performers. We offer a creative and unified curriculum that incorporates a broad spectrum of disciplines, integrating Art, Drama and Textiles to students, providing them with the capabilities to express themselves through their love of the arts and preparing them for future life and education. Our curriculum is tailored to enable students to access KS4 seamlessly through a series of mini projects throughout KS3, focusing on GCSE/ BTEC assessment objectives and criteria. We are able to incorporate and deliver SMSC, allowing students to draw upon prior experiences and build upon knowledge to live active lives, supporting and acknowledging their community and the world around them. We are committed in promoting strong ethical values and a professional demeanour throughout commitment to the academy and education. We strive to foster a community with our students, staff and parents, offering co-curricular clubs and safe spaces to students during non-directed time. We are dedicated with our work in promoting the positive values and role models of the Academy, keeping in touch with our community through creative and innovative transition events and workshops in addition to charity work. Promotion of the Academy is imperative though our subjects and we are able to lead with our display of visual and expressive arts through the use of social media, events and teaching.

To ensure that all students are able to successfully access the curriculum, through the use of visual modelling to widen their skills and broaden their capabilities within the arts. Students are marked at KS3 against KPIs which are taken from BTEC and GCSE criteria, with experience and moderation being exemplar across all subject areas. Students are able to understand from their first transition into the Academy their goal and expectations in order to achieve. Work is regularly marked or verbal feedback is provided to enable students to take the next steps in their learning and take control, being active and independent learners. We endeavour to enable students to become confident, independent and inquisitive learners to enable them to access and develop their capabilities and high grade. Students are awarded a progress indicator at the end of each mini unit with there being 3 projects in art/ textiles and 6 projects in Drama. The use of community enables the faculty develop further learning and experiences for students, with links with local charities Hamilton Davies Trust and the Jamie Horrocks Trust.
